Anchor & Hope is an urban, craft winery located in Rumford, Rhode Island that collaborates with small family farms in Germany, California, Oregon, Rhode Island and New York to grow grapes and make incredible wines. We focus on lesser known, under marketed wine regions that are up-and-coming and producing great fruit. Our mission is to offer high quality, hand crafted and sustainably produced wines to the local market at an affordable price.
All of our wines are from a single origin, farmed sustainably/organically (and biodynamically in some cases), and made using minimal intervention practices. They are elegant, food friendly, easy drinking and best enjoyed with friends and loved ones! Wine and the culture that surrounds it is our true passion and we are honored to share that with you. We are all about saving our beautiful planet and we make small decisions every day in the vineyards and in the cellar to be as environmentally friendly as possible.
We are really passionate about alternative packaging and actually started off this project focused on packaging our wines into kegs for wine on tap in restaurants. We love the environmental aspect of kegs. Over the lifetime of a single stainless steel keg (~30 years), we save roughly 3,000 bottles, labels, corks, capsules and cartons from being shipped all around the world and eventually thrown out. Kegs also keep the wine fresh for much longer as there is no air or cork to taint the wine, which significantly reduces waste. We offer draft services to the local market via the Enotap arm of the business.
Market demand, coupled with COVID-19, led us to expand focus to smaller format packaging, such as bottles, and now cans as well. Cans are a great alternative option as well because aluminum is the most recycled material in the world, and also much lighter weight than glass.
